The Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo Wine Cellars: The revival of a hidden gem

The Cellars of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo: a gem available to hire for small groups

Opened in 1874, the cellars of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo are a priceless oenological treasure trove. They can be booked for private visits on request, for tours with or without tasting, cocktail parties or exclusive dinners

For 150 years, huge cellars built beneath the flower-filled gardens of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo have preserved the wines destined for the hotel's restaurants, including the triple Michelin-starred Louis XV - Alain Ducasse at the Hôtel de Paris. The heritage that resides there is sumptuous, with 300,000 bottles, including countless grands crus and vintages, from both French and foreign vineyards, displayed over a total area of 1,500 m². Since 1874, it has been a unique showcase for the Principality's love of expertise and excellence.

Oenological prestige in an exceptional setting

The cellars of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo have recently opened their doors to wine lovers and visitors curious to learn more. It's a chance for the happy few to take an exclusive journey between châteaux and wine estates, terroirs and grape varieties, punctuated by the most famous appellations, including Petrus, Dom Pérignon, Cheval Blanc, Yquem, Romanée-Conti and Corton-Charlemagne. Some 3,700 names make up a wine heritage renowned the world over.

During these experiences, lucky guests will have the chance to cross paths with Gennaro Iorio, head cellarman since 1993. His mission is to provide just-in-time supplies to the various restaurants in the Monaco resort, as well as ensuring the proper preservation of the thousands of precious bottles maturing underground. This involves scrupulously maintaining a temperature of between 13.5°C and 14.5°C and a humidity level close to 80%. This care is particularly essential for the grands crus, the famous 1961 - the Bordeaux vintage of the century - and the extremely rare Margaux dating from 1835, a jewel in the site’s crown.

A private venue for unforgettable business events

Much more than just a place to store wine, the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo Cellars are also a tasting room. It is now possible to hire them for tailor-made business events, such as company cocktail parties. Guests have the rare opportunity to enter this underground treasure trove and discover legendary vintages, guided through the cellar by a master sommelier, for an experience that is as tasty as it is memorable, and totally exclusive and immersive.

The extraordinary décor of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo Cellars can also be used for ultra-exclusive dinners or cocktail receptions. These can accommodate up to 30 special guests, who will come spend a magical moment in a venue perfectly suited to this kind of premium celebration. It was in this quest for quality and optimal service that the Cellars began their transformation in 2024, to mark their 150th anniversary, opening a new entrance hall and a new reception room, both designed by the Parisian agency Moinard Bétaille. In 2025, further improvements were made, including the judicious use of wood and gentle stone in the central hall, and the addition of a panoramic screen in the dining room to take guests on an immersive journey through the history of the vineyards.
