Monaco in red: CSR and environmentally-friendly initiatives
For several years now, corporate social responsibility has been the thread running through the many environmentally-friendly initiatives set up in the Principality. And because events are ephemeral by nature, Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer does its utmost to provide you with the best possible support with organising your exhibitions, conferences, galas and team-building activities.
Red stands for... Monaco’s flag
The Principality of Monaco has made low-carbon transport one of its priorities as part of its aim of becoming carbon neutral by 2050. While everything is doable on foot in the world's second-smallest country, your staff and partners can take advantage of a wide range of environmental transport options if they wish to
- Let’s start with the bus. Although the vehicles belonging to the Compagnie des Autobus de Monaco (CAM) already run on Diester B30 biofuel, it has added 22 hybrid buses and 10 electric buses to its fleet. The aim is for every bus to be electric by 2025! This will reduce emissions by 95% compared with conventional diesel vehicles;
- The solar-powered electric water bus is an even more fun and environmentally-friendly option. It's a great way to cross the Principality's harbour between Monaco-Ville and the Casino de Monte-Carlo;
- Monaco’s taxis are not to be outdone, providing 25 100% electric vehicles for journeys in the heart of the city or even as far as the neighbouring towns between Beaulieu and Menton;
- if you’re feeling energetic, Monabike offers self-service access to more than 390 electrically assisted bicycles. They have a range of 60 km and you can recharge them at one of the 42 smart charging points scattered around the city.
Red stands for... no red meat
In 2021, Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer secured the government's Restaurant Engagé® label. This commits all its establishments to promoting good practice in terms of healthy, ethical cuisine, with an emphasis on local supply chains and high-quality ingredients.
If you are planning a business event, don't hesitate to ask our chefs for their help with your menus, as they'll be delighted to work with you. All kinds of options are possible, including low-carbon, allergen-free and vegan meals.
Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer has also introduced an ethical group dining option in each of its establishments, which has no red meat and is made exclusively from fresh, local and seasonal ingredients.
Red stands for... the façade of the Monte-Carlo Beach
The Monte-Carlo Beach looks out over the sea with its elegant architecture designed by India Mahdavi. Its façade is 100% red but its spirit is resolutely green, as confirmed by the Green Globe certification received in 2014 in recognition of its particularly proactive approach to CSR. In fact, in 2023, the Monte-Carlo Beach was certified Platinium Standard, the highest distinction awarded by the prestigious international Green Globe label.
The Monte-Carlo Beach's eco-friendly initiatives include sustainable gastronomy and a menu inspired by nature in the Elsa restaurant. In addition to this, however, it is restoring its private beach in a way that will support natural heritage and foster biodiversity, as well as extending the Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux (LPO) bird sanctuary at Pointe Vigie to include the gardens and nurseries at Villa La Vigie. Finally, don’t forget that the Monte-Carlo Beach has low-carbon vehicles for you to use and its water sports centre has also been 100% green and electric since 2023.
All of this makes the Monte-Carlo Beach the ideal venue for your CSR events. Its Deck, with its large art deco room bordered by a wide terrace, is perfect for cocktail parties and dinners nestled in between the sea, the palm trees and the Olympic-size swimming pool.
Red stands for... Monaco’s Red Cross Ball
The Principality and Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer’s commitments are both sustainable and ethical, but they are also intended to promote solidarity, just like the many charitable initiatives organised in Monaco.
These include the Rose Ball and the Monaco Red Cross Gala both raising funds for local social activities and international emergency work.
The Prince Albert II de Monaco Foundation, which has been committed to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development since 2006, also leads and supports various actions.
These are just some of the inspiring initiatives that demonstrate how Monaco lives and breathes sustainability and solidarity - but also how it will be a truly meaningful setting for your CSR-oriented incentive events.
